After hundreds of killed robots, thousands of laser beams shot, the 1v1 Newbie North American Cup came to an end. The combatants have hopefully gained a lot of experience at rocket launcher operation, wearing their heavy armors and other essential challenge promode skills.

Congrats to squeeze for winning the little tournament.

Second and third places go to iojedi and bo!nk

We should also thank all the newbies for participating in the cup. I hope you liked CPM and wish to play some more.

Stay alive until the future challenge, CPMers. gl&hf

[admin - 2007-10-13 22:36:42]

Dear cpma players,

After I received many questions about the start time of this CPM 1v1 Opencup I assume that I should inform you about the fact that im not gonna launch it unless i finnished all my actual works, which means in ~one week or two.

This cup will run over one week and maybe two for the first division due to the different tournament system.

The first division players will be chosen by the noobs anonymous staff (out of the free registrations) and every other player will be put in the second division. We will add more spots if when needed.

If you have any question regarding the cup system or the rules, feel you free to pm me (craz) in #cpma.na

After a lot of great matches this cup resulted in a final between Qrush and emp.
The latter one, coming from the lower bracket, won the first bo3 quite confidently. In the second bo3 Qrush pulled off a surprising win on emp's map choice, cpm3a (map choices were swapped after the first bo3), but then lost one his own, cpm22. On the final map, cpm1a, emp showed that he had a bit more practice there than Qrush.

The sign ups are open from today untill the player picking coming Saturday, June 16th at 20:00 CET
Tournament runs from Saturday, June 16th till Sunday, June 24th
Challenge Promode 1.40 and 1.41 BETA

Pulsen wins!
[publish] [edit] [delete]
[admin - 2007-06-02 00:22:19]
After a long evening of CPMA 1v1 action we managed to come to the finals around midnight. The final standings:

1. Pulsen
2. Anatase
3. glin

I want to thank everyone for playing and being nice. I've seen a lot of close games and hardly one-sided games.

This was our biggest cup so far with 32 newbies facing each other, and the increase in size has given me some ideas how I will handle in the fututre.
Next time the signups will open right before the tournament starts so there's less hassle removing signups. I'll open two tournaments for two skill levels and people can pick the one they like themselves.

If you liked the tournament and CPM and want to taste some if the team action check out #cpmpickup on QuakeNet and !add for one of the gamemodes available. It might be a little bit harder to start so you might want to read some of the docs available at the Wiki for Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch.

Last but not least an awesome CPM movie by Xan, member of CPM Clan Noobs Anonymous. Click here.

Next cup in two weeks so keep an eye open for the announcement!
